Born in Piacenza in 1934, a small town near Milan, Giorgio Armani went to the local public school and developed a passion for the theater and cinema. He made his public appearance as a fashion designer in 1973-74, at the prestigious Sala Bianca fashion show in Florence, presenting his famous bomber jackets which treated leather as a regular, everyday fabric. By using materials in unexpected contexts and combinations made a defining characteristic of his talent. In 1975, Armani and Galeotti started their own company, Giorgio Armani S.p.A., and at this point founded the Armani clothing label. That July, a revolutionary unlined and unconstructed man's jacket was launched. In 1982, Armani became the second fashion designer to appear on the cover of Time magazine after Christian Dior in the 1940s. He was one of the first designers to approach celebrities to wear his creations, beginning with then Los Angeles Lakers coach Pat Riley in 1988. He also welcomed Hollywood stars to wear his men's and women's clothing designs at the Academy Awards, winning Michelle Pfeiffer and Jodie Foster. Giorgio Armani has launched numerous lines, including: Armani Exchange (A|X), the most affordable diffusion line, sold in freestanding boutiques that sell this line exclusively. Armani Jeans, a moderate priced collection of jeans and clothes aimed at a younger market. Armani Casa, a innovative line of furniture and accessories for the home. Armani Junior, a line of clothes for children. Emporio Armani, a line of ready-to-wear clothes and accessories for a younger market. Armani Collezioni the most expensive line of ready-to-wear clothes aimed at an older market. You may also be interested in the following product(s):
